Expert Points to Dead Grass in Yard Harboring a Secret… Don’t Mow it!

During the summer months, lawn maintenance is something most people do. From mowing, to weeding, to planting, homeowners know what it is like to work hard on their property so that it looks as beautiful as possible.

Few things are more more annoying than seemingly random patches of dead grass on our yards. In a video that has gone viral on Facebook, a man named Jared from Ontario Wildlife Removal explained that sometimes there is more than meets the eye when it comes to dead grass.

Jared explained that a client of his saw a patch of dead grass moving in his yard. When Jared came over to investigate he noticed that the grass was actually hiding a very tiny, and very cute, secret.

Underneath the patch of dead grass was a bunch of baby rabbits.

“You guys can see how cute these little guys are and how small they are,” Jared explained, as he picked up one of the baby rabbits to show the camera.

This is probably a very good reason that you should always think twice before mowing down that patch of dead grass in your yard. It might not be a rabbit nest, but it’s always a good idea to check and make sure.

Jared explained that while the mother rabbit may not always be around the bunnies, that is perfectly normal.

Jared also noted that the rabbits grow up fast and will leave the nest in a few weeks, so “let it be.” The last thing you would want to do is harm these adorable little bunnies.

Summertime almost always bring stories about lawn maintenance and surprises from yard work. This is something that I wasn’t aware of about dead grass, but I most certainly will remember it every time I’m out mowing my lawn during the summer months!
