Whoa! … This is going to be big!
In his first interview since being dismissed from Fox News in April, the network’s former prime time host Bill O’Reilly spoke out about the reason behind his firing — far-left wing activists.
“Look, this was a hit,” O’Reilly told radio host Glenn Beck — who was also a victim of liberal bias and advertising boycotts while working for Fox News — in the Friday interview on TheBlaze, according to The Daily Caller.
O’Reilly then strongly suggested that he was not going to take the unfair targeting lying down, explaining that there were plans in place to expose the “far left” and “the organized left-wing cabal” for “destroying voices” they disagreed with.
“(I)n the weeks to come, we’re going to be able to explain some of it. And it has to do with destroying voices that the far left and the organized left-wing cabal doesn’t like,” he told Beck, according to The Associated Press, noting that he couldn’t go into specifics for legal reasons.
O’Reilly said there is a “crew” that goes in and “terrorizes sponsors,” including threatening people behind the scenes and paying critics to say things.
“(W)e’re going to name them, and it’s going to be a big, big story,” he told Beck. “The story will be downplayed by the left-wing media, but guys like you and talk radio and the internet will get it. It’s coming.”
O’Reilly, who was accused of sexual harassment, said the attacks on his character were “grossly dishonest.”
“It’s sad for me. It’s sad for my family,” he continued. “I did what I thought I had to do to protect my family. But those days are over. From now on, when I’m attacked, I’m going to take action.”
Beck noted that he also believed that the former Fox News host was “gravely wronged” and joked that he was considering writing a book called “Killing O’Reilly” — a play on O’Reilly’s successful line of books about historical figures, such as Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.
“Well, they did,” O’Reilly responded, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “‘They’ being not the company so much, but when you have organized people being paid to demonstrate outside of your headquarters and all of that, I mean, it’s intense. So, I gotta do this methodically. I’ve gotta do it in a way where we don’t make any mistakes, and we will.”
For two decades, O’Reilly’s voice was one of the most followed and respected in cable news, and it looks like the silencing of that voice was only temporary.
